Did you know that Slovakia is also a wine country? And yes it does. Slovakia has altogether 8 wine growing regions, from which is the most famous Small Carpathian Wine Road, which starts in Bratislava. Let’s discover the wine, wine culture & beautiful landscape of the country with our Wine Tour of Slovakia.

Day 1- Arrival in Bratislava

Arrival at Vienna airport, meeting with the guide and transfer by comfortable luxurious bust to Slovakian capital – Bratislava. Prior the check in at the hotel panorama city tour of Bratislava. We will discover the Slavin Monument offering a superb view on Bratislava, monumental Bratislava Castle in addition to Blue Church & Nivy District, the modern new downtown of Bratislava.

Check in at the hotel. The sightseeing continue by walking part, when we will discover the historical city center of Bratislava, including all main highlights like St. Martin’s Cathedral, Mozart House, Academia Istropolitana, Palace of Hungarian parliament, St. Michael’s Gate, hidden gem of Bratislava the Primate’s Palace, Old Town Hall, State Opera, Reduta Philharmonic Orchestra building & many more. During the walking tour stop in National Saloon of Wines of Slovakia, where are stored wines from all 8 wine growing regions of Slovakia. Wine tasting of 10 samples of local fine wines with explanation of sommelier. Dinner at traditional Bratislava’s restaurant – 3 course menu with wine. Overnight in Bratislava.

Day 2 – Small Carpathian Wine Route

During our 2nd day of the wine tour of Slovakia we will discover the Small Carpathian Wine route, located in outskirts of Bratislava. The wine region is famous thanks to beautiful landscapes of Small Carpathian Hills where are located vineyards, in addition to rich history and lots of historical monuments. According to the legend from this region came from the most popular wine of Empress Maria Theresa – Frankovka Modra. Legend says that every time Maria Theresa drunk Frankovka Modra she became pregnant. And Maria Theresa had 16 kids :). Start the tour in beautiful small wine town Svaty Jur. Tasting of 5 samples of wine from small local producer at Winery Bognar. Continue in Svaty Jur with wine tasting of organic wines produced without using any chemicals in Organic Wines Bahna. Continue to the “capital city” of Slovak wine production Pezinok. Stop at Majolika Pottery Workshop. Majolika is traditional Slovakian painted pottery, workshop of producing the Majolika. Continue to romantic Red Stone Castle. Entrance to the Castle. The Red Stone Castle boast by the biggest cellars in Central Europe. Surprisingly the cellars were not used to store wine, but they were used for storage of cuprum. Continue to Elesko Vineyards. Elesko is a small wine factory focusing on high quality wine, excursion in architecting interesting building of  Elesko wine factory with tasting of wine 6 samples of wine. Continue to Vinnum Gallery Bozen, the most popular Slovakian wine restaurant. Wine tasting of local fine wines of Matysak production in stylish wine cellar with wine dinner – 3 course dinner with ½ bottle of house wine. Live folk music during dinner. Return back to Bratislava. Overnight in Bratislava.

Day 3- Skalica Wine Region, Royal Town & Wine Traditions

Buffet breakfast at the hotel. Departure to Skalica Wine Region located on border with Czech Republic. Arrival in Skalica and short walking tour of historical city of Skalica – St. George Rotund from 11. Century, City House, Franciscan church of Our Lady of Sorrows. Wine tasting in a monastery wine cellar as a snack you will get a local peculiarity, chimney cake called Skalicky Trdelnik. Continue with tasting of premium local wines in Vineyards Winterberg. Dinner accompanied with tasting of 5 samples of wine and ½ bottle of wine per person at stylish wine restaurant U Studanky. Return transfer back to Bratislava. Overnight on Bratislava.

Day 4- Historical Towns Nitra & Trnava

Buffet breakfast at the hotel. Departure to the oldest Slovakian town Nitra. According to the legends in Nitra lived St. Cyril & Method the patrons of Slovakia, who brought the Christianity to Slovakia in 10th century and who invented first Slavic alphabet – Hlaholika which is predecessor of current Bulgarian or Russian alphabets. Visit of Nitra Castle with St. Emeram’s Cathedral. Wine Tasting of the local wine at Winery Below the Castle – 5 samples of wine. Optional visit of Boutique Vineyards & winery in Tajna for surcharge. Continue to Trnava, which nicknames are “Slovakian Rome” or “Little Rome of Slovakia” thanks to great amount of cathedrals, churches, monasteries, etc. Walking tour of Trnava with entrance to cathedral of St. John Baptist. Transfer to Bratislava. Dinner with wine tasting in unique Matysak Wine Cellar where are stored about 40 000 bottles of wines.

Day 5- Departure from Bratislava & Currant Wine

Buffet breakfast at the hotel. Either free time in Bratislava, or visit of Devin Castle with tasting of local peculiarity Currant Wine – “Devinsky Ribezliak” for surcharge. Devin Castle is one of the oldest buildings of Slovakia from 9th century. The castle is located on border of Slovakia, Czechia and Austria and confluence of two rivers Danube River and Morava River. In time of communism Devin castle was a frontier of an “Iron Curtain”. Continue to Vienna airport. Drop off at Vienna airport. End of services.
