On 03 of October 2021, the first Sunday in October in Kosice, Slovakia will take place 98. year of International Marathon of Peace. After the Boston marathon, the Kosice Peace Marathon is the second oldest in the world, and the oldest one in Europe.

The Marathon has not been interrupted even during 2nd World War and also the Corona Pandemic did not call off the competition.

In 1931 the winner was an Argentinian Juan Carlos Zabala, who also won the Marathon competition in Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

The biggest start of the Kosice Peace Marathon was a legendary Ethiopian Abebe Bikala, a Olympic champion from Rome and Tokio.
